Daytime Travel Restrictions Next Week on U.S. 422 in Valley Forge Area for
Bridge and Sign Structure Operations

10/20/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA

Daytime travel restrictions are scheduled next week on U.S. 422 in Upper
Merion
and West Norriton townships, Montgomery County, for the delivery and
setting of
concrete bridge beams and sign structure work, the Pennsylvania Department
of
Transportation (PennDOT) said today.

The operations are part of PennDOT's $97.4 million project to build new,
wider
structures to improve travel on U.S. 422 at its crossings over the
Schuylkill
River, Norfolk Southern Railroad, South Trooper Road and the Schuylkill
River
Trail. The project also includes improving U.S. 422 between the Route 23
(Valley Forge Road) and Route 363 (Trooper Road) interchanges; upgrading
Route
23 (Valley Forge Road) at its interchange with U.S. 422; and improving
ramps at
the Route 363 (Trooper Road), Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and First Avenue

interchanges.

On Monday, October 24, from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM, the far right lane on U.S.
422
west will be closed between the Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and Route 363
(Trooper Road) interchanges for the delivery of seven concrete bridge beams
and
the setting of the beams on the new bridge being built over South Trooper
Road.

Also on Monday, October 24, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, U.S. 422's eastbound
right lane will be closed between the Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and U.S.
202
interchanges for the construction of a foundation for a future sign
structure.

On Tuesday, October 25, to Thursday, October 27, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM,
U.S.
422's westbound right lane will be closed between U.S. 202 and Route 23
(Valley
Forge Road) for the construction of a foundation for a future sign
structure.

Motorists are advised to allow additional time for travel on U.S. 422
during
these operations because slowdowns may occur. The contractor's work
schedule is
dependent on the weather.

PennDOT began construction on this transportation improvement project in
February 2016 and the project is scheduled to finish in May 2020. Without
the
passage of Act 89, Pennsylvania's transportation plan, construction on this

project would not have begun before 2018.

J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
$97,380,711 contract, which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20
percent
state funds.
