PennDOT to Relocate U.S. 422 West Exit Ramp to Armand Hammer Boulevard in
Lower Pottsgrove Township

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced
today
that it will open a temporary off-ramp from U.S. 422 west to Armand Hammer
Boulevard in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County, on Thursday,
October
27, around noontime.

The entrance to the temporary exit ramp on U.S. 422 west is located a half
mile
east of where motorists currently exit the highway to reach Armand Hammer
Boulevard.

In preparation for opening the relocated exit ramp, the right lane on U.S.
422
west will be closed between the Sanatoga and Armand Hammer Boulevard
interchanges on Thursday, October 27, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, for moving
concrete barriers and installing traffic signs.

This relocated westbound exit ramp be in service for approximately six
weeks
while crews complete construction of the final ramp configuration at the
Armand
Hammer Boulevard Interchange. Motorists are advised to allow extra time
when
traveling through the construction area.

This operation, which is weather dependent, is part of PennDOT's $73.3
million
project to rebuild 1.6 miles of U.S. 422 between the Sanatoga and Route 724

(Schuylkill Road) interchanges, and construct new bridges over the
Schuylkill
River and Norfolk Southern railroad tracks. Construction on the entire
project
is scheduled to finish in October 2018.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor is building, in phases, new U.S.
422
structures over the Schuylkill River; new U.S. 422 structures over Norfolk
Southern railroad tracks; rebuilding U.S. 422 from the Schuylkill River
bridge
to the Porter Road overpass; installing new median barriers; replacing the
Armand Hammer Boulevard bridge over U.S. 422; improving and realigning
ramps at
the U.S. 422/Armand Hammer Boulevard Interchange; reconstructing and
realigning
the ramp from Route 724 to U.S. 422 east; improving storm water drainage;
erecting three overhead sign structures; installing conduit for future
Intelligent Transportation equipment; and installing new guide rail and
signs.

J.D. Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
project that is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state
funds.
