Wolf Administration Announces Work to Begin on $4.5 Million Project to
Resurface 20 Miles of State Highway in Montgomery County

The Wolf Administration announced today that construction is scheduled to
begin
next week on a $4.5 million project to repair and resurface 20 miles of
state
highway in Montgomery County. Work on the project is expected to be
completed
in late October.

"Regular maintenance of roads is an important part of investing in the
Commonwealth's infrastructure," Governor Tom Wolf said. "These repairs will

help increase safety and improve efficiency on the roadways in Montgomery
County."

From Monday, May 15, through Wednesday, May 24, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM,
weekday lane restrictions are scheduled on Swamp Creek Road between Whites
Mill
Road/Swamp Creek Road and Upper Ridge Road in Marlborough Township, for
milling
and paving.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through this work
zone
because slowdowns will occur during construction. The contractor's schedule
is
dependent on the weather.

The additional state highways scheduled for resurfacing under this contract

include:

• Route 63 (Welsh Road/Moreland Road) between Village Road/Jarrettown Road
and
Willow Brook Drive/Edge Hill Road in Horsham, Upper Dublin, Abington and
Upper
Moreland townships;
• Route 113 (Third Avenue/Rahns Road) between Boro Line Road and Route 29
(Gravel Pike) in Trappe Borough and Perkiomen Township;
• Route 113 (Harleysville Pike/Main Street) between Route 63 (Sumneytown
Pike)
and East Broad Street/West Broad Street in Souderton Borough, Franconia and

Lower Salford townships;
• Troxel Road between Sumneytown Pike and Woodside Avenue in Towamencin and

Hatfield townships;
• Broad Street between Route 63 (Main Street) and Route 309 (Bethlehem
Pike) in
Lansdale Borough and Hatfield Township; and
• Sandy Hill Road between Fairfield Road and east of Rolling Hill Drive in
Plymouth Township.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT will mill the existing roadway
surface
and repave the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal
the
roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

Glasgow, Inc. of Glenside, PA is the general contractor on the $4,581,098
project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds from Act 89,
Pennsylvania's Transportation Plan.
