I-95 Overnight Lane Restrictions Scheduled Next Week in Philadelphia
3/9/2018-KING OF PRUSSIA
Lane closures will be in place at night next week at several locations on
Interstate 95 for construction operations between the Cottman Avenue and
Interstate 676 interchanges in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
The work schedule is:
• Sunday, March 11, through Friday, March 16, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following morning, alternating northbound and southbound right lane
closures
will be in place at changing locations between the Cottman Avenue and
Bridge
Street interchanges for soil boring operations;
• Monday, March 12, from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning,
southbound
I-95 will be reduced from three through-lanes-to-one between the Allegheny
Avenue and Girard Avenue interchanges for installation of overhead sign
lighting; and
• Tuesday, March 13, from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning,
northbound
I-95 will be reduced from three through-lanes-to-one between the Girard
Avenue
and Allegheny Avenue interchanges for installation of overhead sign
lighting.
If any of the planned lane or ramp closures are cancelled due to weather,
crews
will work Thursday, March 15, from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following
morning in
either the northbound or southbound direction to complete the sign lighting
operation.
In addition, southbound Richmond Street will be closed to through traffic
between Ann Street and Allegheny Avenue in Port Richmond on Monday, March
12,
through Friday, March 16, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, for gas line
installation.
Southbound Richmond Street traffic will be detoured west on Allegheny
Avenue
and south on Aramingo Avenue.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through all work
areas
because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather
dependent.
The sign lighting installation is part of PennDOT's $212 million project
(I-95/GR3) to reconstruct I-95 at the Girard Avenue Interchange and install
Intelligent Transportation System equipment on I-95 and other regional
highways.
The soil borings are for engineering activities underway for the planned
reconstruction of I-95 between Bridge Street and the Betsy Ross
Bridge/Aramingo
Avenue Interchange (I-95/BSR-BRI).
The utility work is part of the reconstruction and improvement of Richmond
Street between Ann Street and Westmoreland Street, the first stage in the
larger reconstruction of I-95 between Allegheny Avenue and Frankford Creek
(I-95/AFC).
