I-95 Travel Restrictions Scheduled This Weekend, Next Week for Various
Construction Activities in Philadelphia
3/31/2017-KING OF PRUSSIA
Multiple lane restrictions are scheduled this weekend on southbound
Interstate
95 in Philadelphia for replacement of several sections of concrete pavement
that were damaged following a crash last June at the Cottman Avenue (Route
73)
Interchange, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)
announced
today.
The work schedule is:
• From 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM Friday, March 31, southbound I-95 will be
reduced
from four lanes-to-two from just south of the Academy Road Interchange to
the
Cottman Avenue (Route 73) Interchange, as crews prepare to replace the
damaged
pavement sections;
• From 10:00 PM Friday, March 31, to 12:00 PM Saturday, April 1, I-95 south
will be reduced to a single lane from just south of the Academy Road
Interchange to the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) Interchange; and
• From 12:00 PM Saturday, April 1, to 5:00 AM Monday, April 3, two
southbound
lanes on I-95 will be closed from just south of the Academy Road
Interchange to
the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) Interchange, to allow the new concrete to
cure
and new traffic lines to be painted in the work area.
All four southbound lanes on I-95 are expected to reopen by 5:00 AM Monday,
April 3.
Drivers are advised to avoid the work area if possible or allow extra time
for
travel through the work zone as significant backups will occur for
southbound
I-95 traffic approaching the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) Interchange. All
scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Additional I-95 lane restrictions include:
• Monday, April 3, through Friday, April 7, northbound and southbound I-95
will
be reduced from four lanes to three between the Bartram Avenue and
Philadelphia
International Airport interchanges from 9:00 PM to 12:00AM, with a second
lane
closed in one or both directions at times from 12:01 AM to 5:00 AM, for
installation of an electronic message sign; and
• From 10:00 PM Thursday, April 6, to 5:00 AM Friday, April 7, northbound
I-95
will be reduced from four lanes to three between the Bridge Street and
Cottman
Avenue (Route 73) interchanges for guide rail repair.
