Restrictions Lifted on Turnpike Northeastern Extension and Other
Interstates
3/14/2017-HARRISBURG
With Tuesday's widespread winter storm moving out of Pennsylvania, the
state
has lifted speed and vehicle restrictions from the Northeastern Extension
of
the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Interstates 80 and 81.
However, Interstate 84 remains closed to all trucks since New York has
closed
that interstate within its borders.
During the course of the storm, 45 mph speed restrictions and bans on
tandem
trailers, empty trailers, buses, motorcycles, recreational vehicles and
towed
non-commercial trailers were imposed on interstates and expressways east of
Interstate 99.
Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including
color-coded winter conditions on 2,900 miles by visiting www.511PA.com.
511PA,
which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay
warnings,
weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 770
cameras.
511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and
Android
devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts
accessible
on the 511PA website.
