Travel Restrictions Scheduled on I-76, I-676 and U.S. 1 for Bridge
Inspections in Montgomery County and Philadelphia

Travel restrictions are scheduled on Interstate 76, Interstate 676 and U.S.
1
in Montgomery County and Philadelphia, for bridge inspections, the
Pennsylvania
Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, March 20, from 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM, the right lane is scheduled
to
close on eastbound I-76 between the Gulph Mills and Interstate 476
interchanges
in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County;
• Tuesday, March 21, from 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM, the right lane is scheduled
to
close on westbound I-76 between the Gulph Mills and U.S. 202 interchanges
in
Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County;
• Thursday, March 23, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the right lane is scheduled
to
close on the westbound I-676 ramp to westbound I-76 in Philadelphia;
• Thursday, March 23, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the left lane is scheduled
to
close on the eastbound I-76 ramp to eastbound I-676 in Philadelphia;
• Thursday, March 23, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, the left lane is scheduled
to
close on westbound I-76 between I-676 and Girard Avenue in Philadelphia;
• Sunday, March 26, from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM, the ramp from eastbound I-76
to
northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Extension) in Philadelphia is scheduled to
close.
During this operation, eastbound I-76 motorists wanting to access
northbound
U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Extension) will be directed to continue eastbound on
I-76,
exit at Montgomery Drive (Exit 341), make a left to reach the ramp to
westbound
I-76, and take the ramp to northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Extension);
• Sunday, March 26, from 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM, the ramp from northbound U.S.
1
(City Avenue) to northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Extension) in Philadelphia is

scheduled to close. During this operation, northbound U.S. 1 (City Avenue)
motorists wanting to access northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Extension) will be

directed to take the ramp to eastbound I-76, exit at Montgomery Drive (Exit

341), make a left to reach the ramp to westbound I-76, and take the ramp to

northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Extension);
• Sunday, March 26, from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, the left lane is scheduled to
close on northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Extension) over the Schuylkill River
in
Philadelphia; and
• Sunday, March 26, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the left lane is scheduled to

close on the ramp from westbound I-76 to northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt
Extension) in Philadelphia.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
areas.
The schedules are dependent on the weather.

The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least
once
every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and overall condition of
the
structures.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by
visiting

traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and
access
to more than 770 traffic cameras.
