PennDOT to Resume Construction on ADA Curb Ramp Installation Project in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will resume Monday, May 11, on an ADA curb ramp installation project in Philadelphia.

Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, and relevant training.

Beginning Monday, May 11, through Friday, May 15, motorists will encounter lane restrictions in both directions on Route 611 (Broad Street) between the I-95 interchange and Bigler Street, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, for ADA curb ramp installation.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups may occur. The schedule is weather dependent.

This construction is part of a project to install 290 ADA curb ramps at 136 intersections along the U.S. 1 (City Avenue) and Route 611 (Broad Street) corridors in Philadelphia.

James J. Anderson Construction, Inc., of Philadelphia, is the general contractor on the $4,197,360 project which is financed with 100 percent state funds. Work on the entire project is expected to be completed in spring 2021.
