King of Prussia, PA – The bridge carrying Pikeland Road over a branch of Pickering Creek in Charlestown Township, Chester County is closed indefinitely due to damage sustained today during a vehicular crash, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

During the closure, Pikeland Road will be closed and detoured between Hollow Road and Ashwood Lane/Highlands Lane until PennDOT bridge engineers can examine the structural damage and develop a plan to rehabilitate the structure.

Motorists are advised to follow the detour of Hollow Road, Charlestown Road and Church Road or use Hollow Road, Yellow Springs Road and Merlin Road.

Built in 1930, the single-span concrete slab bridge is 14 feet long, 19 feet wide and carries an average of 2,111 vehicles a day.
