Washington Avenue in Bucks County to Close for Bridge Repair

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced
that
Washington Avenue will be closed and detoured between Sycamore Street and
State
Street in Newtown Township and Newtown Borough, Bucks County, on Monday,
June
20m through Friday, June 24, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for repairs to the
bridge
over Newtown Creek. Crews will repair the concrete bridge deck and
sidewalks.
During the operation, Washington Avenue through traffic will be detoured
over
Sycamore Street, Centre Avenue and State Street. Local access will be
maintained up to the construction zone. Motorists are advised to allow
extra
time when traveling through the area.
The work will be completed by PennDOT Bucks County maintenance employees.
The one-span, concrete I-beam bridge was built in 1932 and rehabilitated in
1972. It is 55 feet long and 28 feet wide. The structure carries 7,908
vehicles
a day.
