I-95 Night Lane Restrictions Scheduled Next Week in Philadelphia
2/16/2018-KING OF PRUSSIA
Alternating northbound and southbound Interstate 95 right lane closures
will be
in place Sunday, February 18, through Friday, February 23, from 9:00 PM to
5:00
AM the following morning, at changing locations between the Betsy Ross
Bridge/Aramingo Avenue and Cottman Avenue interchanges in Philadelphia for
soil
borings, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced
today.
In addition, restrictions will be in place on two surface streets adjacent
to
I-95 for construction at the Girard Avenue and Allegheny Avenue
interchanges.
Southbound Richmond Street between Ann Street and Allegheny Avenue in Port
Richmond will be closed to through traffic on Monday, February 19, through
Friday, February 23, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, for gas line installation.
Southbound Richmond Street traffic will be detoured west on Allegheny
Avenue
and south on Aramingo Avenue.
Girard Avenue will be closed between Richmond Street and Aramingo Avenue at
the
Girard Avenue Interchange on Monday, February 19, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM,
for
overhead beam placement on the new northbound I-95 viaduct. If weather
causes
cancellation of Monday's planned operation, the beam placement and road
closure
will take place on Tuesday, February 20, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Richmond Street and Delaware Avenue motorists heading for Girard Avenue
will be
detoured north on Aramingo Avenue. Girard Avenue motorists heading for
Richmond
Street also will be detoured onto northbound Aramingo Avenue.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
areas.
All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The beam placement is part of PennDOT's $212 million project to reconstruct
I-95 at the Girard Avenue Interchange. The soil borings are engineering
activities underway for the planned reconstruction of I-95 between Bridge
Street and the Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue Interchange. Utility work
on
Richmond Street is part of the project to reconstruct and improve Richmond
Street under the first contract of the project to reconstruct and improve
I-95
at the Allegheny Avenue Interchange.
