U.S. 30 East Ramp to U.S. 202 North Scheduled to Close at Night Next Week
for Bridge Construction in Chester County

The ramp from eastbound U.S. 30/Exton Bypass to northbound U.S. 202 in East

Whiteland and West Whiteland townships, Chester County, will be closed at
night
next week for overhead bridge construction, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, February 19, through Thursday, February 22, from 8:00 PM to 10:00
PM,
the ramp will be reduced to one lane, then closed completely from 10:00 PM
to
5:00 AM the following morning; and

• Friday, February 23, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, the ramp will be reduced
to
one lane, then closed completely from 10:00 PM to 10:00 AM Saturday,
February
24.

During the ramp closure, motorists will be directed to use the Business
U.S. 30
exit, turn right on eastbound Business U.S. 30 and right onto the ramp to
northbound U.S. 202.

The restrictions will allow the contractor to remove shielding from
underside
the northbound U.S. 202 bridge over the ramp and adjacent Amtrak rail
lines,
and begin demolition of the outer half of the bridge's concrete deck and
parapets.

Eastbound U.S. 30 motorists should expect backups and slow moving traffic
when
approaching the ramp to northbound U.S. 202. All scheduled activities are
weather dependent.

PennDOT completed repairs and redecking of the inside half of the
northbound
bridge in early February under the first major stage of a $26.4 million
project
to rehabilitate the northbound and southbound U.S. 202 bridges over Amtrak
and
the ramp, and replace the concrete pavement on the ramps to and from U.S.
202
and U.S. 30/Exton Bypass.

Allan A Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general
contractor
on the project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
