I-95 Night Travel Restrictions Next Week at Cottman Avenue and I-676
Interchanges in Philadelphia

Nighttime travel restrictions are scheduled on Interstate 95 in
Philadelphia
next week for construction at the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) and Interstate
676
interchanges, and on Aramingo Avenue at the Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo
Avenue
Interchange, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said
today.
This work is associated with contracts under construction to improve the
ramp
system at the Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue Interchange and to rebuild
the
Cottman Avenue (Route 73) Interchange and reconstruct and widen 1.4 miles
of
I-95 adjoining the interchange. Work on I-95 south approaching the I-676
Interchange is part of a separate, $4 million project to rehabilitate seven
bridges in Philadelphia.
The work schedule is:
• On Sunday, May 15, through Saturday, May 21, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following morning, I-95 north will be reduced periodically from three lanes
to
two between the Bridge Street and Cottman Avenue (Route 73) interchanges
for
adjustments to work zone barriers;
• On Sunday, May 15, through Saturday, May 21, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following morning, the I-95 north off-ramp to Cottman Avenue (Route 73)
will be
closed for overhead bridge construction. Motorists will be detoured north
on
I-95 to the exit at the Academy Road Interchange, then right on Linden
Avenue,
and right on State Road to Cottman Avenue (Route 73); and
• On Sunday, May 15, through Friday, May 20, and on Monday, May 23, from
8:00
PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, I-95 south will be reduced from three
lanes to two on the Spring Garden Street overpass, located near the
Interstate
676 Interchange, for expansion joint repairs.
In addition, on Monday, May 16, through Friday, May 20, from 8:00 PM to
5:00 AM
the following morning, northbound and southbound Aramingo Avenue will be
reduced from two lanes to one between Wheatsheaf Lane and Church Street for
demolition of the deck on an overhead ramp to I-95 and the Betsy Ross
Bridge.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel through the work zone.
All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
