Travel Restrictions Scheduled on Platt Bridge (Route 291) for Bridge

Travel restrictions are scheduled on the eastbound George C. Platt Memorial
Bridge (Route 291) between Bartram Avenue and 26th Street in Philadelphia
on
Wednesday, May 25, through Friday, May 27, and on Tuesday, May 31, from
9:00 AM
to 3:00 PM for bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) today announced.
Motorists are advised to allow additional time for travel where the
inspections
take place. The inspection schedules are dependent on the weather.
The bridge inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect state
bridges
at least once every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and
overall
condition of the structures.
Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by
visiting
www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides
traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and
access
to more than 770 traffic cameras.
511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and
Android
devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts
accessible
on the 511PA website.
