Travel Restrictions Scheduled on I-76, Route 291 and State Road in
Philadelphia Region for Bridge Inspections

Travel restrictions are scheduled on Interstate 76 in Montgomery County,
and
Route 291 and State Road in Philadelphia over the next week for a series of

bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)

today announced.

Weather permitting, the bridge inspection schedule is:

• On Monday, May 9, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be closed
on
Interstate 76 west between the Gladwyne and Interstate 476 interchanges in
Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County;
• On Monday, May 9, Thursday, May 12, and Friday, May 13, from 9:00 AM to
3:00
PM, the right lane will be closed on Route 291 east (Penrose Avenue/Platt
Bridge) between Bartram Avenue and 26th Street in Philadelphia;
• On Tuesday, May 10, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed on
I-76 east between the I-476 and Gladwyne interchanges in Lower Merion
Township,
Montgomery County;
• On Tuesday, May 10 and Wednesday, May 11, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the
right
lane will be closed on State Road north between Rhawn Street and Ashburner
Street in Philadelphia. The southbound right lane will be closed from 12:00
PM
to 3:00 PM;
• On Wednesday, May 11, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed
on I-76 west at the Route 23 Interchange in West Conshohocken Borough,
Montgomery County; and
• On Thursday, May 12, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed
on I-76 east at the Route 23 Interchange in West Conshohocken Borough,
Montgomery County;

Motorists are advised to allow additional time for travel where the
inspections
take place. The inspection schedules are dependent on the weather.

The bridge inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect state
bridges
at least once every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and
overall
condition of the structures.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by
visiting
www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides
traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and
access
to more than 770 traffic cameras.
