Traffic, Transit and Pedestrian Detours and Closures Due to Presidential Visit

This is a message from ReadyPhiladelphia.


The Republican Congressional Caucus in Center City, Philadelphia will be attended by President Donald Trump Thursday, January 26th.

Due to the meeting and expected public assembly, there are SEPTA detours, road closures, as well as parking and pedestrian restrictions for Thursday.

There will also be rolling road closures during dignitary movement. Up to date information will be published on @PhiladelphiaGov using the hashtag #PHLRoadClosures and on the Service Update section of the City of Philadelphia's website. The Office of Emergency Management's Twitter account will also carry those messages along with any important information.

Road Closures
The following roads will be closed beginning at 8am Thursday and will remain closed until at least 6pm Thursday night:

  • ·         13th Street from Chestnut Street to Market Street
  • ·         Market Street from 11th Street to Juniper Street
  • ·         12th Street from Chestnut to Arch Street

Parking Restrictions
The following parking restrictions will go into effect at 6am Thursday:

  • 13th Street from Chestnut to Market Streets
  • Market Street from 11th Street to Juniper Street
  • 12th Street from Chestnut to Arch Street

PPA and PPD will tow any cars located on those streets to the PPA impoundment lot at 2501 S. Weccacoe Avenue in South Philadelphia. The parking restrictions will be lifted when the roads reopen to vehicular traffic Thursday evening.
 
Pedestrian Restrictions
The United States Secret Service is establishing a secure perimeter that will limit pedestrian access to the following streets starting at 6am on Thursday:

  • 1100 and 1200 block of Market – both north and south sides
  • 12th Street from Chestnut to Filbert Streets – both east and west sides
  • 13th Street from Chestnut to Market Streets – both east and west sides  

Mass Transit

  • ·         Changes to SEPTA service for Thursday are listed on a special webpage.
  • ·         SEPTA will begin detouring bus routes in Center City, east of City Hall, at 5 a.m.
  • ·         The Market-Frankford Line and trolleys will bypass the 13th Street station. 13th St. Station will close at 5:00 a.m. Thursday, January 26th. Customers can access the Market Frankford Line at 11th St. and 15th St. Stations. The 15th St. transit entrance at Dilworth Park is the accessible entrance for service Thursday.
  • ·         The Broad Street Line is not affected at this time.
  •       CCT will operate regular service with the exception of the closure area in Center City. Buses will drop-off customers as close to their destinations as possible. Customers will be notified of any changes to service at the time of the reservation. Please expect delays as road closure information is subject to change.
  •       The Market Street entrances to Jefferson Station are currently closed and will remain closed through Thursday, January 26th. Customers should use the doorways on Filbert St. (12th St./11th St.) or 11th St. for entrance/exit
